Nothing says "I Love You, Dear" like screaming lower back pain!

Sometimes Wrong but rarely in doubt!

Wake Up and Smell the Roses

In my nascent old age, one of the things that I enjoy the most is taking a very short stroll through the front and back yards to enjoy the fruits of our labor.  My wife and I have spent quite a bit of time getting the backyard fixed up over the last two years and the investment is paying off in that quiet time in the morning after the sun's up and the noise from the traffic is almost inaudible.

Mrs Bugbear is responsible for creating the arrangements in the long narrow baskets hanging from the fence although I had suggested getting the baskets to complement the hanging baskets that I had installed.

The roses are my responsibility and they seem to be responding to the rose food with riotous growth.  There's a white rose (not shown) that had quite a bit of winter kill.  Mrs. Bugbear cut the white bush back to almost nothing.  The white rose has now exceeded last years height by about two feet.

Interestingly, last year we discovered that tomato plants will climb a trellis.  We have a trellis on one fence that Mrs. Bugbear had installed but was unused for the last couple of years.  By happy accident we planted tomatoes in front of the trellis last year and had the tomato plants climb the trellis.  The plants had tomatoes growing on them more than six feet off the ground.  This year we are being a bit more methodical about getting the tomatoes to climb the trellis.
