Nothing says "I Love You, Dear" like screaming lower back pain!

Sometimes Wrong but rarely in doubt!

Mandated Political Correctness

At work my boss and I were pounding our heads on our desks at the nonsense mandated by our nanny government.  We received a letter informing us that as a contractor to a municipality the municipality required that we be in compliance with the Accessibility  for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005.  Compliance with the act means that the company staff (me and the draughtsman) must be trained to the Customer Service Accessibility Standard.

The Municipality helpfully included info on best practices and procedures.  I've included excerpts from the literature.

Political correctness is the art of picking up a turd by the clean end.  Doesn't matter what you do you're going to end up with crap.  Using the nosensical guide to massacring the English language best practice that was forced into the unwilling loins of my brain helpfully provided by the municipality to facilitate our compliance I will attempt to describe the draughtsman at work using the mandated language and the politically incorrect language.

  1. Our draughtsman is a person of short stature who has a congenital physical disability.
  2. We have a dwarf who has to use crutches as a draughtsman.
The problems with the bland gender-neutral emasculated description mandated by AODA 2005 is that diminishes the people afflicted with physical or mental disabilities, it removes the impact of their conditions doing those people a disservice.  It conveys as little information as possible in a lame attempt to be unoffensive.  Short stature connotes below average height, not the people formerly known as dwarves, midgets and little people.

Why are we wasting tax dollars and other valuable resources on this tripe when we have fractured ineffective universal healthcare and a government in debt up to it's eyeballs.  AODA 2005 is a waste of my tax dollars.

  1. Your description in politically correct language should (last time I payed attention to such matters) have used the term 'differently abled' as 'disabled' has a negative connotation.

As to why your Municipality is inflicting this on you: They are complying with a Provincial Government act. Now, why is your Provincial Government inflicting this on you?

Because Dolton McSquinty is God or presumes himself to be and his Cabinet is a cabal of self-centered egotistical doorknobs that think that they know how each of us should conduct our lives, see and speak about our neighbours, and generally know how to live our lives better than we do. The fact they are venal, corrupt, self-serving, self-centered, assinine, and irrational is entirely beside the point.

I hope that clarifies things for you.

"Our Bugbear is a person who self-identifies as having an Aboriginal Canadian bloodline as well as a Northern European bloodline. He is male in sex and gender.

Our Bugbear suffers from an outmoded belief in straightforward language, honesty, liberty, and common sense, no doubt as a result of a less-fortunate upbringing and clearly society's fault."
